Devising with Masks in Mississippi

Kali is in the process of creating a new full-face mask piece with twenty theatre students at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS this month. The hour-long production will have it’s world premiere March 1-3 at Cromwell Theatre.

While in MS, Kali also did a 2-hour workshop and performed her solo show Overture to a Thursday Morning for the students that was well received and will be used as an example in future directing and design classes as most of the students had never seen a devised physical theatre piece or been able to talk with the creator. After teaching workshops and presenting her solo show, Overture to a Thursday Morning, at Coastal Carolina University, PushPush Theatre, and Emory University, Kali has made her way to Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi where she will be in residency for 5 weeks creating a mask piece with theatre students there. Performances will be March 1-3.

Directing for Spybird Theatre in Putney, VT

This November, Kali directed puppeteers Jana Zeller and Kirk Murphy at Sandglass Theatre in a new production by Spybird Theatre called: Madame Schnuckenack.

This December, Kali toured to an international puppet festival in Quebec at Sages Fous for a work-in-progress showing.

Madame Schnuckenack will have it’s world premiere in September 2012 at International Puppets in the Green Mountains Festival in Southeastern Vermont.

Teaching at Brown Univeresity/Trinity Rep

Fall 2011, Kali moved to Providence, Rhode Island and taught movement within the MFA Program at Brown University/Trinity Rep. Classes included Clown with the first year students, and Mask for the second and third year students. Kali also helped students with their physical language in productions of : Misanthrope, Parade, Richard II, and Macbeth.
